I am literally the worst at blogging but desire so much to be a blogger. While I was in school I took a technical writing class (not what this blog is about) and I was convinced I would start a tech blog immediately after that quarter. Well now I have been out of school for 6 months and I have only just now found the motivation to make it happen!!
My name is Ricky and I work as a vendor at Microsoft. I have very poor writing habits, but feel I need to do something to help define who I am as a technical person. As a vendor at a video and audio branch of Microsoft I come across a ton of issues and even though there are a million blogs out there solving any amount of issues you could have I know if I want to grow as a technical person I need to step it up and force myself to work on different technical issues. My goal is to regurgitate all of my vast knowledge (not that vast) of technical skills into a blog so that:
1. I can track it for personal use
2. Hopefully help others
3. Further build my experience/resume/skills
My 10,000 mile view would be a site where not only do I write and snap pictures but eventually I start doing video capture sessions, start taking challenges, start helping others with issues that arise, and maybe really long way away setup a network of other skilled technicians to help build and manage the site (maybe make a podcast/video podcast as well). For example my skills are kind of scattered at the moment, but strengths are more hardware and Microsoft based software, but maybe I can find a baller server guy, or a network guy, or programmer... or whatever. We will see what happens in the next couple of years.
Overall I plan on tackling 1 or 2 problems a week and writing something up. I will try to make some tutorials and some hyper-v videos to show you what I have learned and how I can help. My near future plan is to start collecting certificates. I am starting with server 2012 and windows 8.1, but plan on moving onto office, lync, cisco, and others. My main goal is to further myself as a technician and to help build my resume. So I expect to see a lot of windows 8.1 tips and tricks and problem solves and a healthy mix of server 2012.
I hope to be helpful and hope people take this journey with me.
